What we collect, and what we do with it
You are handing us a pitch, a CV, or a thesis. Here is exactly where it goes, in plain language.
Who is responsible
Simorgh is the controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us about anything on this page at hello@simorgh.vc, or through the contact page.
What we collect
Only what you type into a form. We do not buy data and we do not scrape it.
- Applications to join the flock: your name, email, an optional link to your LinkedIn or site, and the answers specific to the audience you applied as. For founders this includes what you are building and, if you attach one, your deck. For talents it includes your skills and what you are looking for.
- Role postings: the organisation, your name and email, and the description of the work.
- Messages: your name, email, the topic, and what you wrote.
- Consent: the moment you ticked the box, so we can show that you did.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not build a profile of you across other sites.
Why we can hold it
Your consent, given when you ticked the box on the form. That is the entire legal basis. You can withdraw it at any time and we will delete what you sent, though that also means we can no longer consider your application.
Who else sees it
- The Simorgh team, to read and respond to what you sent.
- Supabase, which hosts our database and file storage in the EU.
- Our email provider, which delivers the notification telling us your submission arrived.
We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to anyone else without asking you first. An investor or an employer sees your details only when you have agreed to that specific introduction.
How long we keep it
Applications and messages are kept while they are being considered and for a reasonable period afterwards, so we can come back to you about a later batch. Ask us to delete them and we will, without asking you to justify it.
The exact retention period is being confirmed and will be stated here before launch.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, object to us processing it, and ask for it in a portable form. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
One email to us is enough for any of these. You do not need to use particular wording, and we will not make it difficult.
Cookies
The site sets no analytics or advertising cookies. Your theme preference is stored locally in your own browser and never leaves it, which is why there is no cookie banner to dismiss.
